Katniss the beautiful gaint!

 

Katniss arrived to Arthur's Acres after being rescued from one of the most severe neglect cases in upstate NY this year.

 

Along with Rue and Prim, they were left to die in a small space no bigger than a dog shed, knee deep in their own feces.  We couldn't be more grateful to give them the life they deserve. 

 

Katniss is the leader on the gang, Standing at over 6ft tall on her hind legs, she's a force to be reckoned with, yet a gentle warm forgiving soul. 

Vivian arrived to Arthur's Acres at just 4 months old with her sister Fay. Both surrendered from a laboratory where they tested on animals for their product. 

 

Within days both ladies bonded with Arthur and now where one goes, they all follow. 

 

Vivian is the curious sister, sticking her nose into every little nook and cranny .The first to greet you every morning and always by our side on the daily adventures. The two couldn't be more opposite and we love them all the more for it.

Cerri, along with her 4 siblings and Momma, were abandoned on a foreclosed property. All kittens were just a few days old when we rescued them.

​

The family now has their own very own kitty heaven at Arthur's Acres where they get to play and explore all day. 

 

Cerri is the fearless kitty, always finding the tallest ledge to jump from, or smallest hole to climb in. 

Brooklyn along with her 4 siblings and Momma were abandoned on a foreclosed property. All kittens were just a few days old when we rescued them.

 

The family now has their very own kitty heaven at Arthur's Acres where they get to play and explore all day. 

 

Brooklyn is our resident speed demon. If you stand there long enough Brooklyn will most likely use you as his very own cat tree before you know it.

Charlie is by far the bravest rooster you'll ever meet.

Charlie was abandoned on the property for months before we moved in. We tried numerous occasions to catch him with no luck. Finally, within days of us moving in, we caught Charlie.

 

He was absolutely terrified for weeks, with good reason too. We knew Charlie needed immediate love and no better than a beautiful flock of rescued hens to do just that!

​

Instantly Charlie was a changed rooster. He stands proud with his ladies and is no longer fearful of humans.

​

We have a special place in our hearts for Charlie, the bravest rooster of them all.  

​

Stevie, along with 4 of her flock friends were being sold on craigslist because the farmer no longer wanted to care for them.

 

Upon convincing them to surrender the lovely ladies they became our first rescue of Arthur's Acres !

 

Stevie is the expert groomer of the flock. If she isn't making sure her beautiful white feathers are in peak condition, she'll be off helping charlie or one of the girls brush up on their grooming skills.

Prim arrived to Arthur's Acres after being rescued from one of the most severe neglect cases in upstate NY this year.

Like Katniss, Prim shows no fear and is a boisterous lass with a beautiful personality. She is always smiling and welcomes a treat. We're confident she'll be accepting belly rubs in no time!

                        

Fay and her sister Vivian arrived to Arthur's Acres at just 4 months old. Both surrendered from a laboratory where they tested on animals for their product. 

 

Within days both ladies bonded with Arthur and now where one goes, they all follow. Fay is the reserved sister, comforted by her sisters presence.

A little timid at first but soon warms up to you once she knows she's safe. And forever safe she will be.

You'll always find Ashley playing with her siblings, chasing her Momma's tail or trying to scare one of her sisters from underneath the couch.  

Momma along with her 5 kittens were abandoned on a foreclosed property.  

 

Once a feral cat, she is now a loving warm affectionate beauty who loves to snuggle on your lap.

 

She is a wonderful mom to her babies, becoming ever more playful with them and humans as the weeks pass.

Rosie, along with 4 of her flock friends were being sold on craigslist because the farmer no longer wanted to care for them.

Rosie is the sassy lady of the bunch, you always know when Rosie is around because she'll let you know about it. Rosie and Stevie were the dynamic duo from the start. If Rosie is around, you know Stevie isn't far behind.

Bella, along with 4 of her flock friends were being sold on craigslist because the farmer no longer wanted to care for them.

Bella is quite the beauty. With the most beautiful fluffy feathers you'll ever see. She's never far from her gang, exploring the stalls and the surrounding pastures at their leisure. 

Rue the wee runt of the family. 

 

Rue arrived to Arthur's Acres after being rescued from one of the most severe neglect cases in upstate NY this year.

Rue is the shy lady, naturally still unsure of people and new places. She looks to Prim for security. We have no doubt she'll soon feel settled in her forever home.

Wilbur is the first potbelly pig we welcomed into Arthur's Acres. Wilbur was abandoned at a New York City shelter in terrible condition.

 

Like most potbellies, it is believed he was once considered a "teacup" pig and abandoned once he outgrew his infant size. 

​

He now spends his days happily roaming the sanctuary grounds with endless pastures to forage in.

​

Tony, along with his 4 siblings and Momma, were abandoned on a foreclosed property. All kittens were just a few days old when we rescued them.

 

The family now has their very own kitty heaven at Arthur's Acres where they get to play and explore all day.  

 

Tony is the big brother of the group, a keen observer and confident cat. Always keeping a watchful eye on his playful sisters, brother and mother.

Lyle was destined for euthanasia after being labelled "aggressive" at a high kill shelter.

When he was rescued, it was soon very clear that he simply needed a safe loving home.

 

He is now the gate keeper of Arthur's Acres, watching over all of the residents. He is right by our side at the crack of dawn to feed the animals and won't rest until everyone is safely tucked away for the night.

​

When he does relax you'll find him sleeping softly in someones arms, feeling safe, loved and cared for.

Autumn is the adventurer of the group, often the first to explore a new pasture, stall or room. Fearless she is, and we love her even more for it.

Roxy AKA Foxy Roxy is exactly that! She struts around, making herself known everywhere she goes.
